The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us that "Human virtues acquired by education, by deliberate acts and by a perseverance ever renewed in repeated efforts are purified and elevated by divine grace. With God's help, they forge character and facility in the practice of the good. The virtuous man is happy to practice them. (1810)
By its requirements for admission, its dress code, opportunities to receive the Sacraments, and other means, John Paul II Catholic High School provides the environment in which its students can acquire and practice good habits, which we call virtue.
In this section we shall discuss various topics of interest to students and parents alike. Select the topic below that you want to view.

Dress Code for John Paul II Catholic High School
Dress slacks: Belted at the waist; slacks not designed for a belt do not require one, but the material must have the waistband at their waist. Slacks with belt loops require a belt. Slacks must be of a solid color either with or without front pleats. Bootleg slacks are allowed. (Otherwise, no flaring in or out, no body huggers) Can be purchased anywhere. Dress slacks made of a polyester blend and dress corduroy are acceptable.
Dress skirts: The girls may wear dress skirts that are belted at the waist, hang below the knee and are not body huggers.
Dress shirt/Dress blouse: Must have sleeves, either short, 3/4, or long, solid color, with buttons down the front, tucked in at the waist. (No bare midriff, no body huggers) No logos on dress shirt/blouses. Purchased anywhere.
Sweaters: Cardigan, crew-neck pull-over or vest worn over dress shirt/blouse. Solid color. No printing, pictures or slogans on cardigan, crew-neck pull-over, or vest sweaters. No sweatshirts or hoodies are allowed to be worn in school during the school day.
Dress shoes: Suede or leather, either laced or loafer style. Girls may wear ballet flats. Purchased anywhere. Tennis shoes may be worn on free-dress days only. Clogs, sandals and flip-flops are not considered dress shoes and they may not be worn to school. Any shoes made of “rubber” or that look remotely like tennis shoes may not be worn on dress days. Please be advised that thick-soled shoes are a danger on our stairways. We do not recommend them.
Socks: Socks with tops must be worn. Anklets are not to be worn.
Ties: Boys are to wear conservative ties on mornings we attend Liturgies, or other special times designated by the Director (This will be limited to special occasions that call for extra attention to attire.)
Hair: Students may dye, color, or highlight their hair but only, and only, to mildly accent, in subdued tones, their natural hair color. No variation into another hair color is permitted. Students may not wear their hair in such a way that it falls over their eyes. By way of illustration only, and not by way of limitation, examples of unacceptable hair color or style would be any color that is not within the color palette of the student’s natural hair color; color patterns such as plaid, stripes or streaks; bleached hair, spiked hair and Mohawks. Boys may not wear their hair long; i.e. their hair may not hang down below their ears in the front and may not touch their collar in back.
“Uniform-free” days: On uniform free days, students may wear something other than a dress shirt or blouse. However, the shirt or blouse must have sleeves as long as a polo shirt and hang below the waist. Students may not wear sleeveless or capped-sleeved blouses or shirts, and, of course, no spaghetti straps, body huggers or bare midriff. No pictures or slogans are allowed on shirts or blouses. However, students may wear a John Paul II Catholic High tee-shirt. Flared slacks, jeans or cargo pants are allowed, but they may not be body huggers, “holey” or have frayed leg bottoms. Slacks are to be belted at the waist. Tennis shoes may be worn.
As a Catholic high school, it is most fitting that our students demonstrate a spirit of modesty in dress. Parents and Guardians, please help us by ensuring that your student does not leave home wearing items that do not conform to the dress code. The Director’s decision is final in matters of the dress code.

Tuition & Fees Policy for John Paul II Catholic High School
Tuition for the 2008-2009 academic year will remain $2,964. Tuition should be paid in full the opening of school. If payment in full is not possible even after attempting to obtain a loan from a lending institution, then at least $1,000 must be paid by the opening of school and the balance of $1,964 paid no less often than monthly in advance between September and May. This would result in monthly payments of at least $218.22 if the balance were paid-off over the nine months of the school year.
If payment cannot be made in accordance with any of the options listed in this policy, please make an appointment at least one month prior to the start of school to discuss your situation with the chaplain, Monsignor Moran.
